St John Ambulance Ghana (SJAG), was established in 1937 to begin Emergency Medical Services in the country. It was given an Act of Parliament in 1959 that is, (Act 57 of 1959), and operates under the subvention of the Ministry of Health (MOH). It is mandatedto provide First Aid training and Ambulance services.
The Agencyoperates as an Emergency Medical Service (EMS) provider in the area of First Aid Services, Ambulance Services, Community Health and Youth Development. SJAG has regional offices and permanent staff in all parts of the country. In addition, we have about 5,500 Volunteers who assist in the operations of the Agency. These Volunteers are in various professions including Medicine, Environmental Management, Transportation, Sports, Law, general business, etc. nationwide.
